Craig’s Friday Checklist: Thwackery

Craig’s Friday Checklist: Thwackery

Things to bring with on PARK(ing) Day:

Misc.

3.  Conceptual Walls – to conceptually frame the space

2.  Handouts – so I can be lathing rather than explaining (here)

1.  Not So Conceptual Picture Stands – because space is only 10% defined by walls and 90% by what you hang on them

Work Space

6.  Lathe and Turning Tools – Craigslist sourced

5.  Sawhorses – for lathe to sit on

4.  Turning Blanks – three bats in six hours is the plan

3.  Amp, Turntable, Speakers – happy workshops have tunes

2.  Extension Cord – none of the above works without it (well, except the sawhorses)

1.  Honda XR100 Project Bike – Jeff H sourced, as an homage to living in what would have been, essentially, a big awesome garage

Play Space

4.  Batting Tee and Baseballs – to test out the bats, while in progress of being made

3.  Pop-Up Batting Screen – Dan M sourced, to keep the balls contained

2.  Misc. climbing and exercise equipment – it’s a man cave, you don’t have to put stuff away

1.  Pictures of Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Roberto Clemente – boyhood baseball heroes, to adorn / inspire the batting cage area

Living Space

8.  Chair – to represent the "living room" space and / or for taking a load off … feel free  … mi casa, su casa

7.  Cot / Pillow / Sleeping Bag – to represent the “bedroom” space - watch for people to ask if I actually sleep on a cot (someone who woodworks in a parking space can probably build a bed)

6.  Cooler – to represent a kitchen, anyone want a lemonade?

5.  Side Table #1 – with a stack of Harvard Business Reviews and the Monterey Downs EIR, to see if anyone gets the joke

4.  Bag of Doritos, Famous Amos Cookies, Box of Donuts, Pop-Tarts - the pantry, with all the food groups covered

3.  Pictures of Jacqueline Bisset and Jill St. John – if you’re going to have a man cave, some pictures of the first women you noticed as a lad isn’t a bad thing, and it’s consistent (in timeline) to the Ernie, Billy and Roberto pictures

2.  Side Table #2 – with magazines, in order top to bottom, Dwell, Alpinist, Car & Driver, Esquire, The Atlantic, Climbing, Glamour

You dug all the way to the bottom for a Seinfeld joke.

1.  Picture of Chicago Skyline – one taken before that blowhard from New York’s ugly building
