Craig’s Friday Countdown - Central Fire Specs

Craig’s Friday Countdown - Central Fire Specs

The plans and specifications for the Central Fire Station project weigh 26 pounds.  Here’s a sampling of some of the small print:

10)  The firepole in the renovation of the existing station will be salvaged brass.  The firepoles in the new station will be stainless steel.

9)  Power tools require HEPA vacuums retaining 99.97% of .03 micrometer dust.

8)  Masonry variation from plumb may not exceed more than ½ inch per 40 feet.

7)  The fitness room floor coefficient of friction must meet or exceed .080.

6)  Grass seeding may not occur when the wind velocity is more than 5 mph.

5)  Burning is not permitted on site.  Makes sense.  Fire station, and all.

4)  Tile must be set for 48 hours prior to grouting.

3)  Brown M&Ms may not be consumed on premises.  Wait, that’s Van Halen’s contract.

2)  Stella De Oro Daylillys in plant palette (about to be removed by City Administrator with a near fanatical hatred of the plant).

1) Exterior signage font is Swiss 721 Bold* Condensed.

*  If bids are over-budget, we’ll have to go with Swiss 720, or lose the bold.
