Craig’s Friday Countdown - Chucks

Craig’s Friday Countdown - Chucks

Chuck Taylors are the perfect shoes for everything except professional baseball, football, mountaineering and firefighting.  Everywhere else, they work flawlessly.  Light, reasonably cheap, comfortable and not overly padded, so you can actually feel what’s going on.  And age only makes them better.

Here’s the ranking.  Your mileage may vary.

#10)  Black High Tops – The gateway Chuck drug, announcing your intent to stick it to the man.

#9)  Super Hero  / Union Jack, etc. High Tops – When the black high top high wears off, and you think you need something stronger.

#8)  Your First Low Tops – Chillin’ starts here.

#7)  Multi Color (shoes or laces) – And then the art starts.

#6)  Somebody Else’s Art High or Low Tops – And then your artist friend draws on them.  Major swoonage if boyfriend / girlfriend.

#5) (tie)  Black Low Tops – Because black is classic. /  Your Team's Colors - Worn to away games.

#4)  Your Art Low or High Tops – Best when the art is comic, referencing a tear in the canvas, rubber or flesh.

#3)  Grey or Navy Low Tops – Low key in jeans.

#2 and three eighths)  Different Colors On Each Foot - Just to mess with people on weekends.

#2)  Natural White Low Tops – Low key in chinos.

#1)  Purple Low Tops – Because it’s my favorite color, and Amanda gave them to me for Father’s Day, so they’re perfectly joyous.
