Friday Countdown(s) - In Reverse

Friday Countdown(s) - In Reverse

Somewhere near question 1,000, it dawned on me I should probably give the QC Times question list a break.  Set it down. Give it some rest.  Let it breath.  Somewhere near question 1,000.  Cause, I’m a little slow on the uptake at times.  And a little determined, at times.  And just generally curious.

Maybe do something else.  Scroll the Tokyo Motor Show on the web.  Yamaha has cool but not beautiful little truck (car from last year was both).  Honda has home robot.  Yamaha has motorcycle riding robot (Yamaha beats Honda, hooray).  Kawasaki has … oh, my.  A retro 900.  In brown and orange, like the original (Kawasaki beats Honda, hooray).

Not necessarily the best, but my favorite 26 motorcycles of my lifetime ...

Harley XR 750 - flat track dinosaur beast

Bimota VDue - two stoke tragedy that broke Bimota

Aprilia RS250 - two stroke, street and track scalpel

Eddie Lawson Replica - this is what men ride

Honda CL360 - this is what people ride who don’t worry about manliness (which is the most manly trait)

Kawasaki 900 - Honda has 750, Kawasaki goes 900

Kawasaki H2 - insane (gotta love Kawasaki and their insanity) (though a purple H1 could also fill this slot)

Honda CX650 - a turbo bike from 1983 that still looks like it’s from the future

Honda Grom - don’t confuse unassuming with unfun

Yamaha TT500 - thumper !

Yamaha FY07 - a supermoto, on steroids

Triumph Speed Triple - for hooligans, by hooligans

Triumph Bonneville - classic

Triumph Six Days - with the Steve’r at the helm

Ducati Monster - simple

Husqvarna 701 - supermoto supreme

MV Augusta Brutale - the Italian hooligan bike

Ducati 916 - Tamburini’s a genius

Evel Knievel Harley (XR 750) - everyone’s gotta make a living …

Suzuki RM100 - my first two-stroke motocross bike, scary fast (then you get used to it, then you get addicted to it)

Yamaha YZ80 - the bike to beat, in eighth grade

Honda XR75 - pit bike, extraordinaire (and a pretty clever ad on four-stroke torque)

Honda SL70 - my first bike (not this one, but close), took a brutal beating, engine never quit

Honda NR750 - oval pistons !

Yamaha TZ750 flat track - the nastiest / coolest bike ever … a bomb, with wheels, banned shortly after creation

Yamaha RZ350 - the last street legal two-stroke in America
